Fermilab Folk Club Mission Statement

The mission of the Fermilab Folk Club is to promote and preserve American folk culture and to provide recreational opportunities for Fermilab and the surrounding community. Specifically, we sponsor regular monthly barn dances to promote and preserve traditional square and contra dancing. We may also sponsor other related special events. To achieve this, we cooperate with other groups, inside and outside the laboratory, which have similar missions, such as the Fox Valley Folklore Society and the Chicago Barn Dance Company.

Our first barn dance was May 13, 1978. You can find the announcement in the first issue of FermiNews.
